ADVISORY: Wyden to Chair Hearing on Trade Opportunities for U.S. Agriculture to the Asia Pacific Region
Washington, D.C. – Seeking to explore ways to expand exports of U.S. agriculture and high-value food products to the booming market found in the Asia Pacific region, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) will chair a hearing of the Senate Finance Committee’s Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs and Global Competitiveness on Wednesday, April 18 at 2 pm EDT to hear from senior officials in the Obama Administration and from growers and producers, about the best way to ensure this market is open for U.S. exporters.
The Pacific Northwest and Great Plains states – home to major producers of agriculture, from stone fruit to wheat and soybean – are enjoying big increases in exports to the Asia Pacific region. As the economies in the region continue to grow, Wyden will discuss with panelists what trade barriers exists and should be dismantled to help American exporters take advantage of growing Asia Pacific economies.
