Wyden Statement on Vote to Defund Planned Parenthood

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement after the Senate voted on a funding bill to limit reproductive rights and access to health care for women in Oregon and across the country:

“It is deeply disappointing that the Senate has voted today on a bill that undermines the fundamental right of all women to access health care. At a time when Congress should be working towards a bipartisan agreement to fund our government, the far right in the Senate is now wasting time with this latest attack on American women and families. I intend to keep fighting to protect a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices.”

The bill failed to advance by a vote of 47 to 52.
