Portland, OR – The abundance and abuse of prescription drugs is a growing problem. They pose a hazard to children and to the environment. To make it easier for the public to properly dispose of unused drugs, the Medford Police Department has installed a drop box. Senator Wyden, along with Medford Police Chief Tim George, other local police chiefs and Jackson County Health Director Dr. Jim Shames will talk about the impact of prescription drugs. Wyden has also cosponsored legislation to crack down on the theft of prescription drugs which is a huge contributor to the prescription drug abuse epidemic.
