Portland, OR – Oregon Senator Ron Wyden and Congressman Earl Blumenauer will discuss Senate passage of legislation to help victims of sexual trafficking and its prospects in the House. They will be joined by city and county officials and representatives of advocacy groups fighting to stop human trafficking. The bill co-sponsored by Wyden and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) would fund pilot projects in six states to establish shelters for victims and provide counseling, legal aid, education and job training, as well as fund additional police officers and prosecutors. The legislation now moves to the House.
