Wyden Attends Klamath Basin Task Force Meeting

Last weekend, Senator Wyden headed to Klamath Falls to meet with members of the Klamath Basin Task Force. The Task Force has made significant progress since Wyden called for its creation in July, to address decades-old water issues. Members of the 27-member task force have already identified ways to cut the cost of an agreement, which is key to passing a bill through Congress.  Senator Wyden said after the meeting, “the Klamath Basin Task Force is the gold standard for collaboration.” 

 After the Task Force’s meeting, Senator Wyden had the privilege of participating in the National Down Syndrome Society Buddy Walk in Eugene. This is the 7^th year of the Buddy Walk in Eugene where hundreds of participants walk to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome. There, he met with two of Oregon’s biggest advocates for those with Down Syndrome and their families- Karen Gaffney, President of the Karen Gaffney Foundation, and Sydney Shook, the Director of the Arc Families Connected Program. It was wonderful to participate in such a great event with inspirational people like Karen!
