Trump's Budget: Brainless and Heartless

If you were wondering if there's anything Trump wouldn't do to finance tax breaks for the rich, then the budget proposal Trump released Tuesday provides a clear answer: No.

Trump plans on slashing over $600,000,000,000 from Medicaid, more than 25 percent of the budget for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and even cuts funding for CHIP, a program that provides health insurance to over 8 million kids.

While it's ultimately up to Congress to decide how the government spends money, this Trump proposal is still an important statement of priorities. It's clear from this proposal that the last thing Trump has on his mind is how this plan will hurt American workers and families.

That's why I'm asking you for help.

If you or someone you know would be hurt by the Trump administration's budget cuts, please consider sharing your story with me by visiting

I'll be using these stories to remind my colleagues that at the end of the day their decisions have real impacts on real people. American families must not be an afterthought to this administration, so I'm going to make sure they remain at the forefront of any debate on our country's budget.

At stake is the fundamental idea that Americans should be there for one another when it counts. I want you to know I'm ready to fight until this budget reflects our values.
